Humanistic Pragmatics or Theory of Dialogue and Valuation: production and origin of language

Interest in valuation dates back to classical antiquity and gained renewed momentum in the first third of the 20th century. In recent decades, systemic and functional grammar (Halliday, 1985; Martin & White, 2005) has provided a theoretical framework for valuation analysis. New research (Ramírez, 2023/2024), combining this theory with the socio-cognitive context model (Van Dijk, 2017), adds further spheres of value, including the dialogic sphere, key to the Axiological Hypothesis, which proposes the value principles of Similarity and Autonomy as pragmatic norms of language.

Based on the norms of this hypothesis, Humanistic Pragmatics is a simple, eclectic, holistic, and developing theory that integrates fundamental contributions from various schools, such as Saussure’s (1916) notion of linguistic value, the theory of mind, and relevance theory.

Following the diachronic and synchronic contextualization, this work presents the foundations of a dialogic and valuational model of language production, onomasiological, based on values, with 4 types of valuation and 20 spheres of value. It also presents, as a hypothesis, a schematic dialogic and valuational model of the origin of language, both filogenetic and ontogenetic.

Pragmática Humanista o Teoría del Diálogo y la Valoración: producción y origen del lenguaje

El interés por la valoración se remonta a la Antigüedad clásica y cobró nuevo impulso en el primer tercio del siglo XX. En las últimas décadas, la gramática sistémica y funcional (Halliday, 1985; Martin y White, 2005) ha proporcionado un marco teórico para el análisis de la valoración. Nuevas investigaciones (Ramírez, 2023/2024), que combinan esta teoría con el modelo de contexto sociocognitivo (Van Dijk, 2017), añaden nuevas esferas de valor, incluida la esfera dialógica, clave para la Hipótesis Axiológica, que propone los principios de valor de Semejanza y Autonomía como normas pragmáticas del lenguaje. Basándose en las normas de esta hipótesis, la Pragmática Humanista es una teoría sencilla, ecléctica, holística y en desarrollo que integra contribuciones fundamentales de diversas escuelas, como la noción de valor lingüístico de Saussure (1916), la teoría de la mente y la teoría de la relevancia.

Tras la contextualización diacrónica y sincrónica, este trabajo presenta los fundamentos de un modelo dialógico y valorativo de la producción del lenguaje, onomasiológico, basado en valores, con 4 tipos de valoración y 20 esferas de valor. Asimismo, presenta, como hipótesis, un modelo dialógico y valorativo esquemático del origen del lenguaje, tanto filogenético como ontogenético.
